HIMALAYAN MOUNTAIN WALL ART
Himalayan wall art, painted in Kullu and made to order on Hahnemühle archival paper
These paintings began in Himachal, in the hills around the studio in Kullu. A ridge in Shimla holding the last light. A river pool in Spiti that refuses to hurry. The first green after snowmelt. They are not paintings of mountains. They are what living beside mountains does to a painter's sense of colour and scale.
Every work is made to order on Hahnemühle archival paper and ships worldwide from India, from ₹2,999. Two works, Dusk Over Ridge and Happy Tortoise, are limited to editions of fifty.
The Works
Where Rivers Rest holds the stillness of a Spiti valley pool, painted after the valley taught the painter patience. Dusk Over Ridge keeps the last colour a Shimla ridge holds before night. The three Spring works follow the weeks after snowmelt, from turned earth to full green. Happy Tortoise moves at the pace a garden in the foothills teaches.
The Paper
Made-to-order works print on Hahnemühle Fine Art Matte 210gsm, a smooth archival sheet that holds pigment without gloss. The limited editions print on Hahnemühle Museum Etching 350gsm. Both are rated 100+ years under recommended display conditions. More in why we print on Hahnemühle.
Choosing a Size
Medium (30x40cm) suits a desk-height wall or a narrow panel. Large (45x60cm) holds a wall on its own. X-Large (60x90cm) reads from across the room, the way a ridgeline does.
The last colour the mountain holds before it lets the night have it.
Abstractions By Dev, on Dusk Over Ridge
The Himalaya does not perform. It continues. These works were made close enough to learn that. The full set of paintings lives in Ground Notes. For the palette on its own terms, see earth tone wall art. For the quietest works in the archive, japandi wall art.
Are these paintings of the Himalayas?
Not literally. They are abstract paintings made in Kullu, in the Himalayan foothills, by Abstractions By Dev. The ridgelines, river pools and seasons of Himachal set the palette and the pace of the work, but you will not find a peak drawn on the sheet. The mountain is in the colour, not the outline.
What sizes does Himalayan wall art come in?
Every work here is available in Medium (30x40cm), Large (45x60cm) and X-Large (60x90cm), made to order. For a wall seen from across a room, Large or X-Large reads best. Medium suits a hallway, a desk-height wall, or a narrow panel between windows.
What paper are these works printed on?
Made-to-order works print on Hahnemühle Fine Art Matte 210gsm, a smooth archival sheet that holds the depth of the pigment. The two limited editions print on Hahnemühle Museum Etching 350gsm. Both are rated 100+ years under recommended display conditions.
Which of these are limited editions?
Dusk Over Ridge and Happy Tortoise are editions of fifty, numbered, hand signed, and certified. Once the fifty are gone, the edition closes and does not reopen. The other works are made to order with no cap on numbers.
