The colour comes from the ground. Ochre, umber, the rust of iron held in soil, the grey of clay before it meets the kiln. Abstractions by Dev builds these paintings in layers, each one left to dry before the next is laid, so the finished surface keeps a record of its own patience.
There is no hurry in this work, and no argument. A field of earth pigment. A horizon that is barely a line. The place where one tone settles into the next without a seam. The eye is given somewhere to rest rather than something to solve.
She works the way the ground does, by accumulation.
What you see is time made visible.
Abstractions By Dev
Each is a fine art print on Hahnemühle giclée, made to order. The earth palette belongs to a quiet room: the wall that asks nothing of you, the corner that holds still.
